The Deutz Tractor in Review

The long history of DEUTZ-FAHR is closely linked with one name. In 1864 Nicolaus August Otto founded the engine works N.A. Otto & Cie., later to become Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (KHD) in Cologne, and shortly afterwards invented the first four-stroke combustion engine. Outstanding landmarks were the begin of series production of tractors with a diesel engine (1927), the series production of small tractors (1936). 1942 KHD starts mass production of Deutz air-cooled diesel engines.

1963 Deutz engineers develop Transfermatic hydraulics. 1966 KHD begins marketing Deutz tractors and Deutz-Fahr hay tools in North America. 1968 KHD acquires Fahr, one of Europe's leading farm machinery makers. 1978 KHD introduces DX Series tractors to North America. 1980 KHD starts up engine plant, Richmond, Indiana. 1981 KHD announces plans to manufacture new generation of air-cooled automotive diesel engines in Montreal, Canada. In 1990 began the production of the first full view tractor AngroXtra.
